Calling all artists and surface pattern designers!
Are you ready to challenge yourself and take on a fun and inspiring challenge?
Look no further, because the A to Z Pattern Challenge is here! Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, this challenge is perfect for anyone looking to push their creative boundaries and explore the possibilities of pattern design.
Here's how it works: Each letter of the alphabet corresponds to a different pattern type in surface and textile design. The goal of the challenge is to create a unique pattern inspired by each letter. Get ready to dive into a world of colours, shapes, and textures as you bring your ideas to life!
Here are the rules:
There are none. Yep, that's right. Go at your own pace, and if you aren't in the mood to create an entire repeat pattern from scratch, you can simply doodle a small section of motifs for fun.
I plan to create one pattern each week and will start from A, and work my way to Z. But if you're feeling rebellious, you could work from Z to A. You do you!
Download my mood boards!
Because I'm feeling generous, I did the hard work for you and have prepared 26 mood boards based on this challenge to draw inspiration from. You can download them by clicking HERE!
Please note that these are just some of my own ideas, but feel free to make your own! Actually, I highly recommend it because it will give you a chance to research each theme and form your own interpretation.
So... are you ready?
Here's a list of pattern types from A to Z. Let's GO!
Feel free to interpret each pattern type in your own way and don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild! Whether you prefer traditional motifs or modern designs, there's no wrong way to approach this challenge. So grab your sketchbook, fire up your design software, and let's start creating!
Be sure to share your creations on social media using the hashtag #AtoZPatternChallenge to connect with other artists and see what they come up with. Together, let's make this the most vibrant and inspiring pattern challenge yet!
